DCA needs your help!

city_hop_shirtThis year, the Downtown Cleveland Alliance is partnering with it’s closest neighboring districts to create the city’s most extensive neighborhood exploration event, The Sparx City Hop!

On September 12th, from 12noon to 11pm, Downtown, the Art Quarter, St. Clair Superior, Asiatown, Tremont, Ohio City and the Flats will all be connected by free trolley routes. Each neighborhood will have live music and a host of events for the whole family.

Explore the Live/Work studios of The Art Quarter or enjoy the sites and sounds of the Tremont Arts and Cultural Festival. Take a free ride over to the West Side Market and enjoy open air in Market Square or take the trolley to West 6th and sample some amazing cuisine.

Restaurants in all the neighborhoods will be featuring specials to celebrate the City Hop and all the galleries in the neighborhoods will be open late into the night.

The best part is…the transportation to all these amazing neighborhoods is FREE! You can explore all the neighborhoods of the City Hop with your friends and familiy and not have to worry about parking time after time. PLUS…the trolleys will run till midnight….so you have plenty of time to get back to your car after the event ends.

Look for more information on this great event as we get closer to the 12th.

DCA Needs Volunteers!

Now that I’ve got you excited for the event, we need your help! The 7th Annual Sparx City Hop – formally known as the Sparx Gallery Hop, is a one-day celebration that connects the districts of downtown Cleveland and its surrounding neighborhoods and it is made possible through the passionate support of volunteers.

Volunteers are needed during the Sparx City Hop weekend for the following shifts:
Saturday, September 12, from 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Saturday, September 12, from 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM

  • Responsibilities include: staffing trolley stops, distributing trolley passes (no money collection), assisting guests, and conducting surveys of the public in order to provide data for our economic impact study of the weekend.

Complete training will be provided. If you are interested in volunteering for this exciting event, please complete the application (click here to fill out) and return it no later than August 10, 2009.

Josh, I will try and recruit some help for the event. Unfortunately it is OSU vs. USC and I am a season ticket holder and cannot miss the game! I have a few people in mind that live downtown that have mentioned wanting to get involved however.
