Stacy Mitchell:
Stacy Mitchell is a nationally recognized expert on independent businesses. She has served as an advisor for elected officials and civic groups across the country and has helped dozens of communities implement strategies to strengthen locally owned businesses. Her book, Big –Box Swindle: The True Cost of Mega-Retailers and the Fight for America’s Independent Businesses, was named one of the top ten business books of 2007 by Booklist. A popular and engaging speaker, Mitchell has given presentations for many organizations, including National Main Street Center, the American Planning Association and National Trust for Historic Preservation. She lives in the historic Munjoy Hill neighborhood of Portland, Maine.
